Earlier today, United States District Judge James V. Selna ordered Michael Avenatti released from a Manhattan detention center on $1 million bond amidst concerns with the COVID-19 outbreak. Avenatti is facing numerous criminal charges, including bankruptcy fraud. He will be released to a Venice, California home and be subject to electronic monitoring. The judge's order requires Avenatti first to be quarantined for 14 days to ensure he did not contract the COVID-19 virus while jailed in Manhattan. As we previously posted, Avenatti was indicted April 10 on charges that he filed false operating reports and made a false oath in bankruptcy.
